Interviewer: In the last few years, salt rooms have been popping up all over Israel. Rooms that are built top to bottom from salt. And these rooms are available for people with respiratory difficulties but that’s not all. With us now is Dr. Ilan Zamir, doctor, homeopathic practitioner and the director of the High Precision Dermatology Center for alternative medicine in the United Kingdom, who will explain to us about all the rooms. What’s the logic behind the Salt Rooms? Is it really a room made only from salt?
Dr. Zamir: Yes. It is a sort of replicate of salt mines in a number of European countries. And in order not to build artificial mines, which will cost a tremendous amount of money, then we just bring from the mine the blocks of salt. That means we bring the crystalized salt. Each one weighs about twenty kilos. They mine this, like they do in coal mines, there are huge machines and they cut the salt.
Interviewer: Every room is built with blocks that you bring from abroad? We have here the Dead Sea, why don’t you build from the salt there?
Dr. Zamir: The quality of salt in the Dead Sea is very good for chemicals . It is good for extracting specific chemicals like bromine, but it isn’t good for health because it is not clean. Here the salt is 98% Natrium Chlorine and this improves its ability to treat immunological problems, in particular, allergies and that’s thanks to its these specific ingredients.
Interviewer: So from where do you bring them?
Dr. Zamir: From the Ukraine
Interviewer: Only in the Ukraine they have these?
Dr. Zamir: At 300 meters underground in a clean ecological region, there are machines that work day and night digging out these blocks. There is also a double sized block 40 by 20 and from these we build the rooms.
Interviewer: Who came up with this idea to build salt rooms?
Dr. Zamir: The history goes back to about 2,000 years ago. It was discovered that fighters, I think Roman fighters, found in some field in some region the mines, or tunnels. They used to cover themselves in cliffs of salt. It was a very relaxing place and they would go in there. The legend say that after an hour or two they used to come out full of energy ready to fight and from there started the interest in the mystical and healing properties of the salt. Interviewer: -the respiratory tract
Dr. Zamir: Pulls the fluids out from the respiratory tract and when a person coughs, blows his nose, they are released. IN contrast to someone who drinks in which he pulls in the fluids.
Interviewer: And with that point, we’ll go to a commercial break and start back on that specific point and clarify it more and explain to which diseases the salt can help. Thank you also to Prof. Gvar Caspa and commercials …
